Production of new individuals along a leaf margin of the miracle leaf plant (Kalanchoe pinnata). The small plant in front is about 1 cm (0.4 in) tall. The concept of "individual" is obviously stretched by this asexual reproductive process.

Some Species Clone Themselves

Asexual reproduction is not just for microbes. Hydras, yeasts, jellyfish, many plants, and even one ant species thought to reproduce entirely asexually can do it.

They Use Very Different Tricks

Bacteria divide by binary fission, while hydras and yeasts can reproduce by budding. Other methods include fragmentation fragmentation, spore formation, and parthenogenesis.
